The pangolin word comes from the Malay: it means, "the one who withdraws". Indeed, as soon as a predator shows the tip of its snout, the pangolin withdraws into itself. Then, it uses its wide imbricated scales (as reptile kind) to protect itself. The pangolin leather comes from the back of the animal. Exactly as for the alligator or the fish. Scales are removed and there is not more than a root of the scale. Please note : this animal, as for the alligator, is part of species protected by the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna). As such, their slaughter is strictly regulated. ABP uses only skins whose the traceability is a strictly known fact.
